The Project - Can Crusher

Task: Using a range of metal work tools and techniques combined with a set of construction plans, you must construct a can crusher. The construction plans (see resources page) must be followed accurately however you have the opportunity to customise the design of your can crusher through certain components including overall shape and colour/finish. Upon the completion of this project it is to be submitted and will be assessed (see marking criteria).
You are also required to submit a design portfolio that must be completed along side the prescribed project. Within your portfolio you must include, but are not limited to:
> Statement of Intent: you are to include a design situation and solution.
> Development of Ideas: initial sketches of what your design may look like.
> Research: research must include least two manufacturing processes, two SOPs of tools used in the construction of the job and two metal finishing products.
> Final Design: two drawings of a can crusher, one must be computer generated.
> Justification: outline what you will do including steps of construction and justify the use of processes, design, and finishes you have chosen. Include a completed Work Method Statement. (template provided on the resources page)
> Ongoing evaluation: evaluate the project at least twice throughout the design and construction process.
> Final evaluation: evaluate the project as a whole explaining your thoughts on the project, what was hard, what you enjoyed, are you impressed with your work, could you improve.
